The Challenge

Traditional chai making demands space, time, and multiple tools that do not suit compact urban kitchens. Founders needed a tea machine that preserved authenticity while enabling one touch convenience.

Translating Ritual Into Manufacturable Design

Analogy approached the challenge through industrial design, product engineering, and design for manufacturing. Our team explored multiple form factors and internal layouts to create a compact tea maker optimised for small kitchens. Mechanical engineering and electrical engineering were tightly integrated to ensure the brewing mechanism was efficient, reliable, and ready for scalable production.

Dostea partnered with Analogy Design in 2021 to create a modern tea machine for "chai" lovers.

A luxury kitchen appliance designed to simplify tea-making without losing its soul.

Analogy began by deeply understanding the cultural and emotional aspects of chai consumption. Through market research and conceptual design, our team translated these insights into a clean, contemporary product language. Multiple design directions were explored to balance elegance, usability, and manufacturability for a global audience. The design process combined creative direction with rigorous mechanical engineering. Internal components were optimized to reduce complexity while improving performance and durability.Product visualization and CMF design helped align the final form with premium kitchen aesthetics, ensuring the tea maker felt both modern and emotionally familiar.

The problem

Funding raised
No Clear Identity

Unlike coffee, tea lacks a consistent visual and product language. Existing tea makers fail to express cultural authenticity, leaving chai without a recognisable appliance identity in modern kitchens.

One Size Fits None

Tea preferences vary widely across regions and users. Many tea makers do not allow meaningful control over strength, milk ratios, or brewing styles, limiting personalisation.

Dostea, a compact and human-centered tea machine engineered for authentic chai, one touch simplicity, and production ready performance for global kitchens.

Analogy Design combined industrial design, product engineering, and DFM design to deliver a market ready tea maker.

Analogy Design developed a distinct design language that gave chai a clear appliance identity. Through conceptual design and CMF exploration, the tea maker reflects both Indian warmth and British minimalism. The external form was refined to feel premium, ergonomic, and instantly recognisable on a kitchen counter. Internally, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering were used to create a lean brewing mechanism. The system enables one touch operation while still supporting customisation of strength, milk, and brewing cycles. Design integrity and manufacturing feasibility were validated through prototyping and product visualization, ensuring a smooth transition to production.
